Week 1 – Apr 22 – What Can Ayurveda Do for Me?
We begin by setting the tone for the journey: introductions, expectations, and goals. You’ll start to learn how the body speaks through visible signs of health and imbalance. This session includes a self-assessment and your first reflective practice: starting a food journal.
Week 2 – Apr 29 – Simple, but Not Always Easy
We explore the importance of listening to your body and begin setting intentions for the path ahead. You’ll be introduced to signs of digestion and guided through a morning body scan practice to tune into your internal rhythms. Your homework includes journaling and a short morning routine.
Week 3 – May 6 – Keep the Fire Up!
This week, you’ll dive into the five elements (space, air, fire, water, earth) and three doshas (vata, pitta, kapha). We explore the balance between agni (digestive fire) and ama (undigested metabolic waste) and connect these concepts to your body’s messages. The ‘Becoming Sattva’ practice this week helps you connect to the five elements, and you’ll add tongue mapping to your journal.
Week 4 – May 13 – Eating Mindfully
You’ll learn how to eat in a way that supports digestion and start applying Ayurveda’s core rules of eating. This includes mindful eating practices, like observing the ‘burp’ signal. Homework encourages journaling and experimenting with these techniques in real meals.
Week 5 – May 20 – Foods That Add, Foods That Take
We look at the energetic impact of food—catabolic vs. anabolic—and break down the six tastes. This is also your introduction to tea meditation as a way to observe digestion in real time. Your practice this week includes journaling and guided self-diagnosis.
Week 6 – May 27 – Food Combinations
This week explores incompatible foods and food pairings that impact digestion. You’ll learn Ayurvedic food-combination principles and how to spot signs of indigestion. The ‘Becoming Sattva’ practice helps you tune into your stomach’s responses.
Week 7 – Jun 3 – It’s All About the Sun
You’ll be introduced to the Ayurvedic biological clock and how daily rhythms affect digestion. We also look at eating according to the seasons. Emotional and energetic links to specific organs are highlighted through reflective practices. Your journaling focuses on aligning with your personal rhythm.
Week 8 – Jun 10 – Show Me the Spice
You’ll meet the core spices and food-like medicines of Ayurveda and explore how to prepare them. This session includes a live recipe practice and a sensory-awareness meditation. Homework includes journaling and trying out a new Ayurvedic recipe.
Week 9 – Jun 17 – To Fast or Not to Fast?
This session explores detox and fasting from an Ayurvedic lens. You’ll learn how to identify when to simplify vs. nourish. The ‘Becoming Sattva’ focus turns to ojas—your vital essence—and how to protect it. You’ll begin working on your personal end-of-course eating plan.
Week 10 – Jun 24 – Go With the Flow
We explore how to adapt your eating habits to real-life challenges like travel, stress, and social events. We also introduce the 80/20 rule and practice with case studies. You’ll reflect on your needs and begin shaping a flexible framework.
Week 11 – Jul 1 – Where the Rubber Meets the Road
We address sourcing, sustainability, and implementation. We also open space for Q&A. You’ll explore emotional eating and refine your flexible eating framework based on your lived experiences and ongoing insights.
Week 12 – Jul 7 – Closing Circle & Reflection
We gather to celebrate your growth. Participants share their eating frameworks and takeaways, reflecting on what’s shifted and what’s sustainable. You’ll walk away with strategies to integrate your new habits for the long term.
Becoming Sattva is a series of simple but powerful practices woven into the course to help you align your senses and calm your mind. While we don’t go deep into the psychology of behavior, these tools strengthen your ability to listen to your body and respond wisely.
